Marcin Jan Szumowski

Marcin Szumowski is a shareholder, co-founder, and President of the Management Board of Molecure S.A.. He began his scientific and managerial career in the United States, where he earned his Master’s and PhD degrees at the University of Illinois, and an MBA at the University of Nevada. He has more than 20 years of experience in managing research and development projects, technology transfer, commercialization, and investments in the biotechnology and medical diagnostics industries. In total, he has led more than 40 R&D projects with a combined budget exceeding EUR 200 million. He has co-created or managed numerous technology start-ups in the Life Science sector. Before founding Molecure, Marcin Szumowski co-created the success of the publicly listed company Medicalgorithmics, where he served as CEO and President of the Management Board between 2005 and 2010. During this time, he secured nearly EUR 10 million in private and public funding for the development of PocketECG technology. He was also responsible for business development and supervised the market launch of the company’s first products in Europe and the United States.

Marcin co-created the technology transfer platform for the bio-tech-med cluster in the Mazovia region (BTM Mazovia and BTM Innovations), established around investments in the Centrum Badań Przedklinicznych i Technologii (CePT) valued at over EUR 100 million. The cluster brings together three of Warsaw’s largest universities, leading institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences, as well as several companies and funds from the Life Science sector. Since 2012, he has participated in independent expert panels supporting the European Commission in evaluating the world’s largest public-private partnership (PPP) program in biopharmaceutical research – the Innovative Medicines Initiative.
