Dariusz Stencel
Dr. Dariusz Stencel is an experienced physician-scientist and medical affairs expert with over 30 years of experience spanning clinical medicine, oncology, hematology, pulmonology-related projects, pharmaceutical industry leadership, and clinical research. Throughout his career, he has combined clinical practice, translational science, strategic medical leadership, and international collaboration across healthcare, academia, and the pharmaceutical industry.
Between 2023 and 2026, he served as Chief Medical Officer at SDS Optic SA, where he is responsible for medical strategy development, planning preclinical and clinical programs, scientific communication, publication planning, and collaboration with CROs, investors, and international regulatory institutions, including FDA and EMA.
Throughout his career, he has held senior medical affairs and leadership positions at Novo Nordisk, Baxter, Boehringer Ingelheim, Roche, Bayer, and AstraZeneca. He gained extensive experience in medical strategy, clinical trial execution, publication planning, KOL engagement, advisory boards, and management of projects across Central and Eastern Europe. He built and managed international medical teams and coordinated multidisciplinary projects across diverse healthcare systems and cultural environments.
Dr. Stencel has broad expertise in clinical development from Phase I to Phase IV studies, including feasibility assessments, investigator-initiated studies, post-marketing research, and real-world evidence (RWE) projects. He has participated in numerous international multicenter clinical trials and contributed to the development of innovative therapeutic platforms and precision medicine solutions.
Education and scientific communication have constituted an important part of his professional activity. For many years, he has been involved in academic teaching as a lecturer, trainer, and medical educator for physicians, students, and pharmaceutical professionals. He delivered lectures, seminars, workshops, and international educational projects in both Polish and English. He also completed dedicated training in Problem-Based Learning (PBL) methodology and contributed to the development of educational programs and academic tutor training.
Before entering the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Stencel worked for nearly a decade at the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Clinic of the Karol Marcinkowski University of Medical Sciences in Poznań, combining clinical practice with academic teaching and scientific research. His research interests included leukemia, solid tumors, coagulation disorders, molecular diagnostics, immunology, and supportive care in oncology.
He is the author or co-author of approximately 160 scientific publications, congress presentations, and review papers. In addition to his scientific and medical expertise, he has extensive experience in medical communication and specialized medical translation in the fields of oncology, hematology, clinical trials, immunology, and pharmacoeconomics.
He obtained a PhD in Medical Sciences and an MBA degree. He also completed postgraduate education in healthcare management, project management, specialized medical translation, and clinical research methodologies.
